“Bringing intellectual honesty to paranormal pursuits”

Our mission: Chat once a week, each with a fresh cup of java in our hands, and then rough-edit that conversation into a lo-tech podcast, giving listeners/downloaders the opportunity to eavesdrop in on our conversation about everything from the absurdity in this field to the serious implication of our work.

The Devil's Advocate, originally referred to a canon lawyer in the Roman Catholic Church appointed by the Pope to argue against the canonization or beatification of a person; the preferred term within Roman Catholicism was "official skeptic."

Whereas we usually hesitate to use anything off wiki...more here:

We are not now, nor have we ever been, employed by the denizens of the underworld...

Note for the Reality-Challenged, Part I:

Reflecting the inadequacy of some aspects of our educational system, we occasionally receive communications from people who assume that The Devil's Advocate means we work for the devil -- the aggressively ignorant even attempt to capitalize on the ignorance of others by fostering that misconception. As ignorance generally subsumes the absence of rudimentary logical skill, we have had little luck pointing out that, if there were a devil and we were actually employed by him, we would hardly have to resort to such crude tools as hard work, written reports, and testimony to accomplish our objectives when a simple lightening bolt or middling earthquake would do. For those with neither intellect nor sense of humor, we can confirm without fear of contradiction that we do not now nor have we ever been employed, directly, indirectly, or supernaturally, by any citizen of the netherworld.

Note for the Reality-Challenged, Part II:

We are in no way associated with the movie known as "The Devil's Advocate," starring Al Pacino and Keanu Reaves.

Those visitors to our web-site who are looking for information about the movie, seeking autographs, or who have a movie script or concept to peddle, will not find comfort here. We not only pre-date the movie, but we also own the federally-registered trademark for the name.

Dr. Stephen Rorke has undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees, has lectured on developmental psychology, cognition, theoretical and applied physics, and EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) as a subset of ITC (Instrumental Trans-Communication) with potential implications for the theoretical physics community regarding the existence of multiple dimensions beyond the standard model. Dr. Rorke’s most recent studies include the application of information theory, persuasion theory and certain aspects of psychology to the paranormal; i.e., ‘paramemetics’. Dr. Rorke’s psychobiological explanation for the creation of a paranormal ethos, the spread and adoption of fringe ideas is called ‘para-memes’ and this model brings information theory and neuroscience to bear upon the paranormal in an interdisciplinary manner.

Dr. Rorke proposes best-evidence standards in paranormal research, and leads the way with his conclusive investigation of the enduring Spiricom mystery found at:

Dr. Rorke has advocated for nearly a decade that “The role of science should be to investigate the unexplained, not explain the uninvestigated”.

David Rountree, is a certified audio and acoustic engineer, and has a graduate degree in electronics engineering, with a minor in particle physics. He has given presentations on the phenomena associated with ghost hunting as well as the technology used to document the phenomena with special emphasis on the proper way to use it. David’s current research focuses on the potential connection between Quantum Mechanics and reported paranormal phenomena. He has researched Electronic Voice Phenomena since 1976. Some of David’s accomplishments include establishing a relationship between EVP and spontaneous ELF EMF, researching the relationship between EMF and inter-dimensional or trans-universal wormhole-like phenomena and the study of environmental alterations in connection with medium activity.

David’s work can be found at:

http://www.spinvestigations.org

David has advocated for years that strict objectivity is vital in the serious research of paranormal phenomena, and that while saying you use the scientific method, it is far more important to actually follow the scientific method.

Together, they will blow your mind!
